Make a Wind Sock

You can use a wind sock to find out where the wind comes from.

Make the wind sock by following the instructions on the drawing. Tie the wind sock to the top of a pole.

Using the wind sock and the compass you can now measure the wind direction. You can also see how much wind there is, by looking at how high the wind lifts the wind sock.

If you want the wind sock to be weatherproof, you can use plastic bags or nylon fabric instead of paper.

1 sheet of 8,5 x 11 inch printer/copy paper
1 piece of tissue paper 28 x 28 cm
Glue
Adhesive tape
Scissors
Paper puncher
1 paper clip
Metric ruler
1.2 m kite string
Pole
Magnetic compass
