Double Lark's Head (Trlby) Knot

The Double Lark's Head, or Trlby™ Knot: This knot is more a 'curiosity' than anything else. It is of little use to anyone who doesn't own a set of Trlby™ Stunt Kites. The only other use it has in kiting is to belay straps to carabiners to keep the open end of the 'biner away from the strap to make it easy to use the 'biner as a take down. This is the knot that Trlby™ uses everywhere on their kites. The paper clip connectors on the bridle and link lines are tied with this knot. It is pretty obvious that it is difficult to tie this knot in the exact position desired on the line, and this should tell you something.....

The Lark's Head, used by itself, is not suitable for joining line to hardware. However, by changing it slightly, it becomes a strong knot that will hold hardware.

Put a bend in the line. Put the bend thru the connector.
Then put the connector thru the loop.

So far, we have a Lark's Head. It would pull right out.
Here's how to tie a Double Lark's Head (Trlby Knot):

Start by doing all the same things for a Lark's Head. Put the loop thru the connector, put the connector thru the loop. Then put the connector thru the loop another time. Another way of doing the same thing is take one leg of the loop, and wrap it around the connector one more time.

Note: What makes this different from the Prusik is that this knot goes around itself twice. The Prusik goes around what it is being tied to twice. A Prusik is a Lark's Head done twice. It is not a Double Lark's Head.
